Propolis primer natural,
JOHA® Propolis Varnish is a premium product among spirit varnishes. Since pure propolis solution alone is difficult to apply and does not form a sufficient varnish layer, high-quality elastic resins are added. This creates a soft, elastic varnish that excellently preserves the full sound of an instrument.
The varnish is based on natural propolis extracts and provides a particularly gentle, protective surface with a glossy finish – ideal for instrument making and delicate wood types.

Application Note
JOHA® Propolis Varnish is especially suitable for users who value natural ingredients and acoustic excellence. It dries somewhat slower than Spirit Varnish Ia and therefore requires a bit more patience for perfect surfaces.
Recommended Use
Ideal for multi-layer varnishing of string instruments and fine wood surfaces that require a natural and elastic seal.
Varnish Build-Up
For optimal results, we recommend the classic three-layer build-up: primer – color varnish – Coating.
- Primer: Strongly adhering first layer directly on the wood
- Color varnish: Colored or clear intermediate layer with protective effect
- Coating: Softest finishing layer with glossy surface and protection
Drying Times
Drying depends on temperature and humidity, ideally around 18 °C and 50–60% relative humidity.
The first layers dry within approximately 12–24 hours; thicker layers require more time.
Drying Test
Press lightly with your finger on the surface – if no indentation remains, the varnish is dry.
